MOLOKO IN MARRAKESH: A Love Affair with Colour, Culture & Creativity
Share
Marrakesh. A city that buzzes with life, drenched in golden sunlight, painted in rich hues of ochre, terracotta, and deep indigo. A place where the scent of spiced tagines and sweet mint tea lingers in the air, where every winding alley of the souk tells a story, and where cats—elegant, effortless, and free—rule the streets like queens.
It was the perfect backdrop for MOLOKO’s debut campaign—a brand built on boldness, beauty, and self-expression.
A City That Speaks in Colour
From the moment we arrived, Marrakesh felt like an endless moodboard of inspiration. The golden-hour glow, the textured walls of the Medina, the intricate tilework, and the earthy, sun-kissed tones—everything about this place felt like it was made for MOLOKO.
Fashion here isn’t just worn; it’s lived in. The locals move effortlessly through the souks in flowing kaftans, rich jewel tones, and striking prints—a masterclass in confidence, tradition, and timeless style.
The Souks: A Dream for the Bold & Adventurous
Shooting in the souk was electric—a labyrinth of handwoven rugs, shimmering lanterns, stacks of vividly coloured spices, and rows of hand-beaded garments. Every stall was a treasure trove of craftsmanship, filled with fabrics that told stories of generations past.
MOLOKO’s collection felt at home here—our fierce, free-spirited silhouettes blending effortlessly with the opulent, maximalist energy of Marrakesh. We shot among cascading textiles, intricate mosaics, and archways that framed each look like a work of art.
The Jasmine Set—a one-of-a-kind design made from vintage sari fabric—glowed against the rich terracotta backdrops, while the Selena Dress, with its gothic-chic elegance, stood out in dramatic contrast against the vibrant chaos of the market.
Tagines, Tea & The Magic of Slow Living
Marrakesh is a city that reminds you to slow down and savour. Between shoots, we found ourselves at small hidden courtyards, indulging in steaming hot tagines, thick with spiced saffron, tender lamb, and the sweetness of prunes and almonds.
The ritual of mint tea, poured high from delicate silver teapots, became our daily moment of pause—watching the world move past us, soaking in the sounds of street musicians, market haggling, and the occasional meow of a sunbathing kitten.
The Cats of Marrakesh: Our Unexpected Co-Stars
Speaking of kittens—Marrakesh belongs to them.
Everywhere we turned, sleek, sun-dappled cats strolled through the souks, lounged in sunlit alleyways, and curled up on handwoven blankets like tiny fashion critics.
A small, golden-eyed kitten even found her way into our shoot—posing effortlessly against a stack of hand-dyed textiles, completely unbothered by the world. A true MOLOKO muse.
The Start of Something Special
As the sun set behind the Koutoubia Mosque, casting the city in a warm amber glow, it was impossible not to feel it—this was more than a campaign, more than a collection.
MOLOKO is about more than fashion—it’s about feeling, adventure, storytelling. It’s for the wild-hearted, the fearless, the women who wear their clothes like art.
And Marrakesh? She understood that.
